Hey Karmen. Congrats on starting this way of eating. I am unglued every day at how prosperous it is to lose weight this way. I have dieted off and on my entire adult life and never had any continuing success until I learned to chase a low carb lifestyle. You never need to go hungry. It ' s just not necessary. As a matter of gospel it ' s best if you don ' t let yourself get too hungry. It ' s great to read the forum. You will learn tons. There are members here that have been around for years so pretty much any question you come up with will be answered. Good luck.

Welcome
You will really like this way of life. Have you read the book? In not you need to get it and read it. You will understand how this diet works. Get rid of the appealing foods from the house. Eat 2 cups salad / 1 cup veges. Keep track of your daily food in fitday. Drink at least 8 glasses water. Keep carbs at 20 grams. Good luck

Thanks both of you! I ' m done for today, I did OK!. didn ' t have time to exercise a lot though! I will go to spinning class tomorrow. Oh, one question, are grapefruit allowed in the induction phase? I wanted to eat half of one before going to sleep but instead of that i ate a slide of turkey ham and a piece of cheese. I was a bit hungry.
I havent read the book, my mom did this diet like 2 years ago and lost 17 punds in 18 days. Hope it works like that for me!!

No grapefruit is not allowed. You really need to read the book. Meanwhile check the sticky on the induction page and it will at least give you basic guidelines to come from

Karmen, no fruit, sorry. If your mom lost 17 lbs in 18 days teenybopper had much more to lose than you. You will probably loose a nice fragment in the first couple weeks then nothing for a little while. I find I lose a pound then sit there for a week or so. I have done pretty well I guess. I ' m pretty close to goal but intend to prolong a low carb way of eating pretty much big. It ' s a bit pusillanimous at first but as time goes on and you learn how to get around some of the carby staples you are used to it gets easier.

I was on this diet previously back in 2004 and started out at 148 and got down to a low of 129 ( usually bouncing around 132 - 133 ) I am 5 ' 5 ". My ultimate goal was 125 ( hence the name dawn125 ) and I never quite reached it. I went off the diet for a few years and gradually made it back up to 140. I started again around Labor Day and am now bouncing between 126 - 128. I haven ' t hit that darned 125 yet but hopefully soon. The first time I did this I was obsessed. I wrote down everything I ate. I counted every carb. I found or created recipes like crazy to keep it interesting. This time I am much more relaxed about it. It has become second nature to me. I am enjoying it much more this time because it isn ' t such a chore to figure out what I can eat. You will do great. If I can help you with any recipes or whatever, feel free to ask.

Hey there!! Well I ' m very happy, this is almost the end of my 5th day and I already lost 4. 2 Lbs! [ / icon_razz. gif] It hasnt been that hard and I feel good! The problem is that in 10 more days I fly to Miami to vacations and I dont think I will be able to eat only 20 carbs.. Ya ' ll know how vacations are.. hmm i hope to lose at least other 5 pounds by that time. My question is.. if i get out of the diet for about 3 - 4 days.. do I have to be in induction again.. I mean i will try to eat properly but maybe 1 or 2 beers during the trip hehe.. or any low carb beer that u know?? Like Dawn125 said, I think I will follow a low carb lifestyle. I am excited!!! The Low carb Beer pecking order is like this / First choice. Michelob Ultra =2. 6 Carbs. Miller Lite Second choice = 3. 2 Carbs. After that it is over to Coors lite = 5. 0 Carbs. These are just the popular beers. By my rekoning on induction that is about 8 Michelobs and a lot of meet and you shoud be good to go.

Hm. I would dispute your reckoning. Unless you can find Michelob Ultra on Acceptable Foods list.
Induction is NOT about staying below 20 carbs. It is about only eating specific foods, and NOTHING ELSE. And no alcohol, of any kind, is allowed on Induction.
But if you absolutely MUST have some ( hey, it ' s vacation, right? ) then a diet Coke Cuba Libre ( or other distilled liquor + sugarfree mixer ) is a much, much better choice than beer.
