I ate this yesterday but only the meat and veggies, however there are juices around it that i tried to bleed on a paper towel. What does this stuff have in it? Thanks!

I would doubt that the juice had anything much in it that would really bother you. Some chinese food has sugar in it; but not neccessarily. I think you did fine. You certainly selected an pertinent dish.

Good Luck! [ / icon_smile. gif]

Usually the sauces on chinese food has starch. Loads of carbs in it - a one cup serving is about 22 carbs. If you figure that 10 % of the sauce sticks to the food, count it as 2. 5 carbs. THat may not be very accurate, but is a helpful guide. [ / icon_biggrin. gif]

If you want to eat Chinese food, make sure that you tell them not to use starch in the sauce. Some of the sauces will have some carbs anyway, but the majority of carbs, as Loriann says, are in the starch regardless of whether it is a brown or white sauce. This includes egg drop soup at most restaurants. The sauce will be a little watery, but the taste is the same, and that ' s all you need anyway. Most restaurants are happy to do this ( even the little quickie take out ones ) as long as they freshly prepare each order and are not taking it from a buffet ( like at a Mall food court ).
