I read an article recently that said that it takes 8g of carbs to diget a small cup of yoghurt - is this true and if it does does that mean you can subtract that amount of carbs from the carb count of the yoghurt?

Could you post details of the article? It doesn ' t sound true. I ' ve often heard people say that it takes more calories to eat & digest celery than is actually in the celery - that isn ' t true either.
I ' ve also heard that the lactose in milk is metabolised by bacteria in the gut so that the carbs from lactose don ' t count.

All I know is that some studies showing the relation to eating yugurt & weight loss are tied together have been put out recently. I think the calcium plays a part in that. Though here in the states, it is SO hard to find decent low carb yogurt. I have found one unflavored greek style that ' s 6 carbs per cup.
