This is kind of weird...

The scale says i ' ve lost about 15 pounds so far. I have tightened my belt 3 noches. Everytime i ' ve checked my Ketostix, they report that I ' m in ketosis. I feel like I ' ve lost. I don ' t think it ' s only water weight that I ' ve lost because of the belt, and I ' ve been doin atkins for about a month now.

However, with the belt, scale and ketostix as evidence, I can ' t really see a big difference. None of my friends have really noticed anything. I even asked my GF last night if broad could tell and chick said not really ( hehe, we ' ve been cool for 6 years... no sugar coated versions in our interrelationship, or should I say no splenda coated versions [ / icon_wink. gif] ).

Anyway, I know that if im tightening my belt, the scale is giving me a lower number, and I ' m in ketosis it HAS to be working.

I just thought that I would notice something myself, not to mention my friends that I only see once or twice a week.

Just kinda looking forward to people saying, " Hey, have you lost weight? " or " Wow, your looking good! "

I feel the same way Boooos, I have lost 16 pounds. I can ' t even tell it, my fingers look spare that ' s about it. I thought my tummy would go first. It ' s still there. I hate that thing, it ' s housed 3 kids and looks it. When I gain weight that ' s where it goes and from there the excess goes to my rear. I can ' t tell a difference in either one. Oh well, maybe soon........ Are you still doing induction? I have been eating a few favor but still trying to keep under 20 but with more variety foods.

YoYONoMO,

Been there, still there with the tummy thing.

Booooos, YEs, when you start getting smaller clothes they will notice. My husband runs around in baggy ( 4 - 8inches ) around the waist and I can ' t see any loss at all. I have him in my jeans ( I am low waisted and only wear MENS Levis ) He looks really slim. So, maybe it ' s your clothing, not you. They see you in the same things and styles all the time and aren ' t really taking a closer look.

You are really stinking rich in your interconnection also. And deb sees you every day or nearly, right?

You are getting smaller. [ / icon_biggrin. gif] Everything you do tells you. [ / icon_biggrin. gif] Believe it! [ / icon_biggrin. gif]

Positively, that is what I ' ve been doing. I guess I ' m on a modified induction.

I even drank beer last weekend while watching the Rams, and accepted the truth that I might lose slower. I kept the excercise up and I sustained to stay in ketosis and lose 4 lbs the week after.

Still, the point is, I ' m not seeing results either Yoyo [ / icon_sad. gif] oh well, I guess we have to start seeing them soon... we just Have to! [ / icon_wink. gif]

Yea, me and the GF live cool, so doll probably doesn ' t notice the very small changes everyday. And I hear you guys on the clothes thing, too. I kind of don ' t want to go shopping till i reach my goal. [ / icon_wink. gif]

Anyway, thanks for the pick - me - up! feeling better already!

Boooooos, I don ' t our friends look at us all that closely when we ' re heavy. I ' ve noticed it works both ways. I ' ve gained in the past where no one seemed to notice when I thought they all would have and should have.

When they do get the memo, boy are you going to knock their socks off! It will be total cynicism and a " how did you lose so much so fast " reaction. I think it must be like becoming a star " overnight. " We don ' t see all the work and preparation that goes into the end execution. But, when we do, WOW! [ / icon_eek. gif] [ / icon_eek. gif] [ / icon_eek. gif]

Until everybody gets the memo, keep on keeping on. [ / icon_smile. gif]

I ' m the same way exclude mine is even MORE confusing. According to the scale, I ' ve lost 21 lbs. I can ' t really tell a difference. However, SOME of my clothes are very loose now. BUT.... some fit exactly the same! How can that be? I ' ll try on a pair of pants that used to fit fine and now they are a little big and then I ' ll try on a pair that were SLIGHTLY tight and they are STILL slightly tight! No difference. Weird.

It all depends on where you are lsoing it from. You would be surprised at the weird places like hands and feet, sometimes the outside and little other bits here and there. The bottom line is that you are both steadily losing and it will show up more and more. Dawn is right that some folks won ' t notice right away as they don ' t look as closely at you, but when they do they will notice. I lost 40 pounds and I asked my Mom is I looked any smaller last week and she had to look a little closer. Then she said, I guess I see it a little. [ / icon_sad. gif]

( To be fair it was only about 15 pounds since she last saw me several months ago. )

Ahh... you guys are the best! I know its happening, I just want it to happen NOW! [ / icon_wink. gif]

Yoyo, Blueskyes - Mentioning losing it from weird places... Now that I think about it, I have noticed my hands look smaller. I was driving to work the other day, and I kinda noticed when I looked at my hands for just a brief second... They didn ' t even look like mine! I could see veins and everything! [ / icon_biggrin. gif] Hehehe, they were.... weird looking! [ / icon_lol. gif]

Since we tend not to lose muscle mass on Atkins it takes longer for the weight loss to show up. Normally, on low fat diets, the muscle mass melts off of us faster than the fat. So we begin to look leaner even though we really aren ' t. I had lost 30 pounds and no one noticed because my muscle bulk was still in place. Eventually, when enough fat is gone it shows up. It ' s a slow process with plateaus but it works over time.

Good Luck! [ / icon_smile. gif]

[ / icon_biggrin. gif] Aloha all you wonderful caring people out there in LowCarbLand,

Although I ' ve lost 20 pounds, I also haven ' t noticed my clothes fitting any better. But then, I refused to buy bigger pants, so I ' ve been wearing a size too small!. [ / icon_redface. gif]

But I trust my scale - so I gotta engage in the willing suspension of dis - belief! [ / icon_cool. gif] When I went on a starvation diet three years ago, I was pleased that I had to tighten my belt so soon - but after I lost the 50 pounds, I gained it all back ( plus a little bonus of 10 pounds ) within 2 months of stopping the " diet ". I was so sure that I ' d learned how to eat " normally ", and even thought my belt kept getting tighter I hid behind my " Cleopatra, [ / icon_queen. gif] of de - nial " mind mask - until I could no longer breath, and had to go find all the bigger pants I had put away! [ / icon_redface. gif] [ / icon_redface. gif]

[ / icon_cry. gif] [ / icon_cry. gif] Of course, that made me even more depressed, [ / icon_twisted. gif] which made me even more hungry, [ / icon_evil. gif] which made me eat even more, [ / icon_redface. gif] which made me even more fatter, [ / icon_twisted. gif] which made me even more depressed.... and on and on and on.....

This is the first time in my life that I ' m losing weight just for me! There is no one " weighting ", who will love me more when I get thinner, and I ' m not on any kind of " temporary " way of eating / living. I ' m in this for the long haul, and I ' m doing this because I feel so good not eating those white carbs that I thought I could never live with out. Since Atkins & this group saved my life, I have much more energy, my body is healing and I ' m happier than I ' ve ever been ( and I [ / icon_rolleyes. gif] used to take drugs! ).

[ / icon_biggrin. gif] Plus, now I have this wonderful new " family " to share my triumphs & concerns with. This is paradise!

[ / icon_razz. gif] Hopefully Happy & Healthy & Here / There & Thanking my lucky stars! [ / icon_exclaim. gif]

I ' ve lost 26lbs now & everybody can tell. Dropped from 44 / 46inch waist to 40inch plus generally all over.

Nobody noticed much after the two week induction when I lost 14lbs but now they are. Would imagine it also has to do with how much you have to loose. I have ~5. 5 stone ( 77lbs ) to lose so loosing nearly 2 stone is quite significant whereas if you have say over 10 stone to loose it would take a while for it to show.

I ' m with you! I ' ve lost 15 lbs ( got over that plateau this week, THANK GOD! ) and my husband has lost 17 lbs. Everyone is complimenting him and it is so obvious that he ' s lost a lot of weight. No one has said a word to me ( except my hubby who can tell ). But I don ' t care. I know I ' ve lost weight, my clothes are looser, and my rings are falling off my fingers! This is just such an awesome feeling. Like everyone has said, people will take notice soon, but the most important thing is that you notice!

Hey Booos, I ' ve lost 10 pounds... no one is coming up to me off the streets and cheering yet... but an observant co - worker did say the other day, " Hey you are wearing a suit I haven ' t seen on you in a year. " And I said, " Yes, I ' m on Atkins and going to lose weight!!! " I think after 10 more pounds people will have to notice, and the same for you too... after all your clothes are fitting better, and you are getting thinner!

Did you take any body measurements so you can track your weight loss? That might help, just a thought...

Wow, some great responses! Thanks all. And guess what?!?!

SOMEBODY NOTICED! [ / icon_lol. gif]!

We went to the Rams game and my GF ' s friend said, " Wow, Mike, from the side it looks like your really trimming down! "

Oh, wow... just what i ' ve been waiting for! Thanks again all.

btw.. I didn ' t take my measurements, but my belt is my " tape measure " and I think that works pretty well.

You always need to consider that when people see you and you look like you have lost some weight, they may not say anything. It could be because they are afraid to ask. People lose weight for different reasons and not all of them are good. People may think you could be sick or are having personal issues, such as drug or marital problems and don ' t want to open a can of worms. Especially if they aren ' t good friends.

This is true. I just had the Schwan man tell me that he thought I was losing and that I look like I have lost every two weeks, but he didn ' t want to say. He is on Atkins also so I make a note to compliment him when he comes by to deliver. I can see a change in him and want him to know, but some people feel as thought there are boundary lines that they can ' t cross. I southern and I tend to sidestep those boundaries sometimes it gets me in trouble [ / icon_redface. gif], but most of the time I get a smile or to out of people.
