Hello. I started the atkins diet back in March. I stayed on the induction period for a month and half. I went from 158 to 137. Then I fell off of it. I keep telling myself i ' m going to get back on it, so I indulge in all my favorite foods. I haven ' t gained any weight though, But I feel like a COW! I just want to get down to my original goal weight 120 - 125. I really want to get that feeling of confidence and energy back, but I can ' t seem to find the motivation to do it. Does anyone have any words of sagacity or advice to point myself in the right direction?

I would suggest, take the time to visit the progress section.. it helps to know that there are so many successful people making this a reality. You can do it.. And it really isn ' t as hard as it seems. You just have to believe in yourself. ( which certainly isn ' t always easy ). But possibly you can gain some strength from the rest of us?
Also, like Yoda says. " There is no try.. there is only do. " Meaning, don ' t put things off till tomorrow. Start right now... don ' t rotate carbs in your mouth today in anticipation of starting tomorrow. Start doing, stop trying.
Believe it or not.. in time, not eating all this sugar and white flour won ' t seem like a big deal.. but you have to be strict with yourself now.
Okay.. last quote. " YOU CAN DO IT " - Adam Sandler. [ / icon_wink. gif]

Wipe yourself off and get back on the " A " wagon. Tomorrow was always our favorite word when it came to diets and look at where it lead us. Well think of tomorrow as Today. Just do it and you will feel so much better and look at this terrific bunch of people you have for support.
GOOD LUCK & DO IT TODAY [ / icon_wink. gif]

Hiya and Welcome!!
Well, for me it ' s all about choice. It ' s all in what you choose. Would you rather choose to keep eating high carb & not lose any more weight, or do you really wish to get to your goal? If so, CHOOSE to do it. Just one choice at a time. Bunless burger for this meal, salad & chicken for the next. [ / icon_smile. gif]. It ' s as simple as the little choices you make every day. Choosing one goal consistently is the key [ / icon_wink. gif]. Best of luck to you!!
Blessings,
Lisa

Take a good look in the mirror. Do you like what you see? Are you happy? That should be enough motivation for you. No one except yourself can motivate you to stay on the diet. You will go down the path that you desire. So unless you personally want to be leaner, healthier, and more attractive, and you are truly willing to commit to losing the weight and the keeping it off by changing the habits that are presently controling you, why bother? A great deal of effort is required to succeed at dieting. Even Atkins requires constant hard work and dedication.
I suggest that you keep looking in the mirror until your present self image is clear to you, and not something that you had twenty years ago. Then perhaps you will really desire to lose weight. That is what I was finally able to do; and the shock sent me into Atkins in a most dedicated manner.
Good Luck! [ / icon_smile. gif]

Hi hlynna22,
for me, making the right choices is driven by thinking where my life is going, what I want to be, what I want to achieve in life... etc. I am the same age as you are so I think about what I want my future to be like, and I know I have my whole life ahead of me. I finished college a year ago, I have a new job, I live in a new city, I am ready to make new relationships, I am ready to make a fresh start with my weight. I just think about all the things I chose not to do because of my weight: approaching new people, asking a guy out, wearing short skirts, going to the beach / pool, wearing a sleeveless top, eating in public... The list goes on and on. Now every time I put something in my mouth, I think " What effect will it have on my body ". Yes I made my share of mistakes on this WOE but with every mistake I learned a new lesson and I think you HAVE to make mistakes to finally come to the realization of what YOU really want. Social pressure sabotaged me a lot but not anymore. Do you care that somebody else criticizes what you eat or don ' t eat? What effect will it have on you to go along with them or against them?
we are here for you
