it ' s an herbal sweetener from South America. It is supposed to be 300 times sweeter than sugar, so apparently it should be used in teeny amounts... I bought some at a health food store in liquid form and used it in the flaxseed muffin recipe instead of splenda and it seemed to work out! I cherish to not put a sweetener in hot drinks but I can envisage that it would work just fine.

I ' ve tried the powdered form but didn ' t find that it was really all that sweet - but never tried the liquid form it might be better. The powdered stuff is green and doesn ' t dissolve either - it ' s just the granules. I didn ' t care for the stuff one iota but that doesn ' t mean it ' s won ' t be subsidiary for someone else! All I can say is I don ' t recommend the powdered form as it is not user friendly.

I use Stevia when I am at home. It ' s in little packets and is white. Makes my tea a bit cloudy looking. Tastes better than tea with nothing. I use Splenda at work.
To me, splenda is sweeter and has more aftertaste - stevia just seems to cut the bitterness out. I hoist that since it doesnt leave you wanting sweets.

that ' s odd... i found that it did leave a nasty bitter aftertaste [ / icon_sad. gif]. I used the green stuff though - my local herbal grocery didn ' t have white stuff...
Does the white stuff dissolve ok?

I use the liquid in relation with liquid splenda in my cheesecake recipe. It works fine for me. I tried it a few times in coffee and wasn ' t really impressed but some people really like it. It is safe to use in induction and in liquid form it adds no carbs. I don ' t know about the powdered form.

Where in the world do you find the liquid splenda? I ' d love to have that, because i know it ' s better for the diet than regular splenda.

Go to netrition. com and check out fiberfit by nutragenics. It is sucralose in liquid form with fiber. It is marketed as a fiber supplement and is extremely concentrated ( I think 1 tsp is equal to 8 tsp of sugar ). It has no digestible carbs, only fiber. It ' s pretty expensive though. It apparently also comes in a powdered form but I have yet to find it in stock anywhere. Some other websites have it also but I think netrition is the cheapest.

I ' ve tried it in several forms. All of them I get from my local organic co - op.
Green / dried leaf form - about the only place I would use it would be to steep it along with tea to add sweetness. It has an organic or fresh / green flavor to it that I wouldn ' t want in cooked items.
Concentrated liquid - works, but not as well as liquid sachrine.
Powdered Concentrate - This is what i use most often. I use it along with Splenda and other sweetners to help round out the sweetness profile in cheesecake and pies. It works well for this.
