Wouldn ' t you just know it! I just got up to get my one soda of the day and low and behold all the diet cokes in the vending machine have been replaced with C2. Stupid, stupid, people! Arrrrrgh! Fortunately, the one upstairs still has diet coke and I suppose the extra walk won ' t be so bad ( counts as exercise [ / icon_smile. gif] ).... So amazing how quickly people jump on the bandwagon. Over the weekend C2 was brought up and someone said it didn ' t taste good and then asked what I thought ( since I ' m low carbing ) and I said that since it still has so many carbs and so much SUGAR that it ' s not something I ' m interested in....
I can just see the dope now...

I used to drink diet coke all day. 10, 12, cans... I was a real partisan.
But I got so agitated through the caffine, that I was a real wreck. Couldn ' t sleep, heart beating so fast when I tried to exercise.
So I weaned myself off to a no - caffine diet. First I switched to diet 7 - up. No caffine. ( Not good for atkins, it has asperatame ). It took nearly a week to get rid of the caffine side effects, but I ' m so glad I did. I ' m so much calmer and my heart doesn ' t do velocious spells anymore. Plus my teeth are now whiter than ever without that nasty diet coke stain. When I started atkins I switched to straight water - wasn ' t a problem to give up diet 7 - up.
Maybe you should think less about moving upstairs to the coke machine and more about switching off caffine [ / icon_smile. gif] Think about it. Pretty teeth. [ / icon_smile. gif] Plus no caffine headache [ / icon_smile. gif]
Food for thought, thought from food...

Oh, and I always thought caffine - free diet coke tasted like crap, but that is my own personal opinion. My main man still swears by the stuff.

OOooh that would make me mad if they got rid of all the diet cokes in a machine for that c2 stuff. Do you think it ' s going to be a successful idea? I dont want to be negative, but i dont think it will do all that well... i could be wrong though.

I saw the Ads for that and didn ' t get it. I mean yeah maybe less aspartame is good but it ' s hard to market a lower carb product when their other product has zero carbs. It just amused me.

It just seems like a squander. If you ' re on a diet, you ' d go for no - carbs, no calories.

When I looked at a can I ' m pretty sure one can had 18 carbs... ummm... no thanks. Don ' t corporations do any research before releasing a product these days?

The original marketing intention of C2 was to offer a soft drink with fewer calories and less sugar, but provision a better tasting product ( they hope ) for those that prefer the taste of regular coke or pepsi, but didn ' t like the current diet products. Carbs was really not in the equation.
Then.... in the middle of the product development phase, there was the explosion of the Low - Carb craze. The marketing people had no choice but to exploit the " half the carbs " virtue that C2 already had due to half the sugar.
So basically C2 would have still been introduced if low carb dieting wasn ' t such a big deal in the food products buisiness right now, they were just forced to promote it as a low carb drink.
That, my friends, is an excellent example of the rapidly changing business environment you may have read about in your business 101 class.

The whole issue I have with C2 is that although they are marketing it as low carb ( at 18c a can ), it still has sugar - which is a no - no with Atkins, so it doesn ' t really matter. I get why they ' re advertising it the way they are because many people will just drink it without doing any research and think they ' re being healthy - which is their problem, not mine. I just don ' t see the logic in replacing diet coke with it.... [ / icon_scratch. gif]
Tep - I ' m not really a major caffeine consumer. I like to have coffee occasionally, and like I mentioned I limit myself to one diet soda a day. The reason I allow the one is for the carbonation mainly, becuase I have a horrible stomach and carbonation helps settle it. I prefer diet sprite or diet rite, which are caffeine free, but when I forget to bring some in to work I am at the mercy of the vending machines, which usually only provide diet coke or diet dr. pepper as choices. I suffer from anxiety attacks occasionally so I ' m very careful not to consume too much caffeine as this agitates the problem. Quite frequently I go wtihout caffeine for a month or more. As for my teeth, I use the crest white strips whenever I think they may be getting a little dingy, and for the most part, I think my smile is rather nice.... but thanks for the concern / advice. I was at a birthday party a couple of weeks ago and the grandmother came in with a bottle of the stuff. Then the family started to compliment her on how well she was doing with her low carb, so I said really, and asked which diet she was on. SHe said she was doing Atkins and in Maintenance. I just smiled and then watched her eat about 2 cups of potato salad and then birthday cake. Then raved on how well the new Diet coke tasted. I just smiled. All the while thinking to myself, how thick could you get?

maybe she did what the book says - maybe she went back on induction for a while before hand since she knew about the party? maybe not but it ' d be nice to think so ( i ' m totally addicted to reading the book ).
before i began atkins i tried the C2. it ' s not good! it ' s like.... cardboard. i much prefer diet coke to it both for the taste and for the lack of carbs.
how bad is aspartame really?

can ' t you just make " c2 " by mixing diet coke and regular coke? either way, i swear by pepsi. it doesn ' t have the " fake " sugar taste that diet coke has. and yes... caffiene free does taste like crap. it ' s tastes like water mixed with color.

Of course... Pepsi had come out with a mid - carb soda as well.... I forget what it is called, but it was in the stores the last time I went shopping.
I don ' t see them promoting in much... I ' m guessing they think it is going to flop, but didn ' t want to let Coke have a clear field to run on....
