I feel soooo bad, because I ate cashew nuts today and 2 atkins bars. I know that nuts are not allowed on induction. I feel worse then ever, and feel like eating more and more, also my cravings got worse. Well I have to start again tomorrow but I feel like a loser [ / icon_redface. gif]

Well, don ' t beat yourself up Emma. Believe me, your not the only one to cheat during induction. Just start again and try not to look back.
Good Luck,
Laura

Ok, you ate cashew nuts and 2 atkins bars today. Not horrible. Better than potato chips and chocolate cake. Now just have a big glass of water. Or maybe two. And no, you do not have to restart tomorrow. You have to restart right now. You will be fine. You are not a loser! Seriously! This is not a crash diet. It is a new way of eating and you are in the learning step. Next time you feel yourself weakening have a big glass of water and eat something induction friendly first. You are much less likely to cheat if you are not hungry in the first place. Have a great day.

CONGRATULATIONS. No, really. As cheats go, yours was pretty minor. You caved... but you didn ' t go overboard. 2 bars was better then 6... ( and 6 would have probably made you sick anyway! ) Nuts aren ' t too bad... better then candy.
And, like Dawn said... restarting starts now... don ' t wait till tommorow. That just gives you an excuse to continue to cheat the rest of the day. ( Ok, so here, technically, it is now tommorow... so restarting starts today! )
Be carefull with the sugar alcohols. They were the root cause of my current 3 week detour from loosing. Most bars have them... the low carb ice cream I was eating has them... Proably best to avoid them completely during induction and well beyond.
Get back on track. You can do it.

Just keep reminding yourself how bad you really want this, the cravings do subside you just have to get past them.
Good luck [ / icon_biggrin. gif]

Hi Emma,
Ok so you cheated. It ' s bad, but not the end. I speak from experience, I ' ve had a few whoppers myself.
The worst thing to do would be to use one cheat as an excuse to go crazy. The physical cravings really do decrease, but it takes a few days, and you have to be strict.
don ' t problem, you can do this.
cheers,

You ' re not a loser yet! You haven ' t lost any weight at all. haha. Keep tyring and keep getting better day by day at this and soon you will have it under control. Those craving will diminish with time and you will find that you have more control than you ever imagined. At first, we must fight the battle day by day. The secret is to keep doing it every day. Even if, at first, you fall down and eat things you shouldn ' t, you are most likely making a vast improvent over your previous eating style. Over time you will learn how to eliminate those things you cheated with.
It wasn ' t awful, but what bothers me is that you did it on the first day. You must get your desires focused on losing weight. I have made the suggestion here many times to people that if you are going to have something like bars or other bad things, eat them in front of a mirror. You might be surprised at how your desire for them wanes when you see yourself stuffing things into your mouth that are going to add to the bulk you already possess.
Learn now, to do something else when you start to crave food. You are using food as a crutch; as comfort and personal reward. You must stop that in order to succeed. If you immediately start doing something physical when you have tnose cravings, and don ' t sit there and ponder how good it will feel to gobble up something, you can resist even now. Try it. Get away from the food. The best thing would be for you to toss all that junk out now anyway. Io remember roaming about my house trying to find something to eat; but I had eliminated it all and had to settle for nibbling on a piece of cheese or some olives.
Good Luck! [ / icon_smile. gif]

Hey Dawn - I did have potato chips and chocolate cake!!!! Dr. Atkins is probably turning over in his grave.
I have been having a good day and then a bad day, over and over.
I am smack in the middle of an 8 day holiday ( succot and simchas torah ) and the kids are not in their routines, I am not at work, there is food all around and it ' s stressful, to say the least. So, I have REALLY been screwing up. We ' re not talking cashew nuts here. But you know what? I refuse to see myself as a loser and I know that tomorrow I will wake up and try to have another Low carb day. And if I screw up again I will just pick myself up again and start again. I WILL NOT GIVE UP. Even chocolate cake does not a loser make! All kinds of stuff happens in life and gets in the way of our diets. Life just gets in the way. But the beauty of life is that there is always another day to start fresh.
Hang in there Emma and don ' t give up. I won ' t and I ' ve been MUCH worse than you. [ / icon_wink. gif]
