One of the most telling and encouraging elements of losing weight on Atkins is trying on clothes. In the past we ' ve talked about how we can often tell more about our fat loss by doing that than by getting on the scales.
I keep clothes that are too small for me out and available; where I can see them. I periodically try them on to mark progress. I also have clothes sitting in the closet that I try on occasionally. Today I did that and found that I could move some of them into my " active ' closet now. Several shirts and some jackets fit me well now. Four months ago I couldn ' t wear them. One item is a very fine skin casing that I ' ve had for perhaps 15 years and not worn in at least 12 of those years. It fits me now better than when I bought it.
So I recommend, from experience, that you do this chore regularly. I don ' t weigh myself as often as I just try on smaller clothes. It not only marks progress in terms of change of body shape and size; it is most encouraging to find another now - functional item of clothing once in a while.
And remember, what you eat affects your health; but what you do not eat enables you to lose weight. We must statement the two.
Good Luck! [ / icon_smile. gif]

I ' m still shopping in the back of my closet... but I concede 100 %... I feel great when I fit in a shirt that got put away years and years ( at least 7... 8... one maybe 10 years ) ago.... and they fit or are getting close to fitting!

The shirt I am wearing in the photo of me now is a size Large Polo T shirt. Before Atkins, I was wearing the same brand in XXL and it was tight around the belly. I often have to wear a size XL now to fit my chest but often I can find a full cut size large in some clothes.
Last Friday I bought a Lauren sports shirt on sale. I usually take an XL in those to fit through the back. But it was huge on me around the belly so I exchanged it for a large, that fits perfectly.

Yea for you! That ' s awesome Teuthis, I ' d agree with you when I ' m losing I always found the biggest ( so to speak ) encouragement for me was getting smaller clothes. not only do you feel better but they ' re cheaper and more widely available.
