For me... I ' ve tried many diets over the years and this one worked best for my situation. The decrease in cravings and not being hungry was what I was looking for... and got. I ' m more healthy now than before I started w / Atkins. No health problems at all. But everyone is different.... This is an Atkins support site, so you are most likely to get " support " here.... and it helps a great deal! Good luck!

Kidd states some wise words. hehehe.
Creaxe - - read the book. You must figure for yourself! I am completely confident that if you pursue the guidelines of the diet, there ' s no way it could be unhealthy. A lot of people who complain the diet haven ' t studied it. They just here, what?? No carbohydrates? That ' s wrong. That ' s not even what the diet stipulates.
Good luck,

Well, it can be both depending on how you do the diet. It can work wonders, but it ' s not a " miracle diet ". It ' s a method of healthy eating that needs to be a lifestyle! People seem to think that Atkins=meat meat meat. If you eat nothing but bacon, red meat, eggs, etc., sure it can be a health issue. If you ' re consuming HUGE quantities of saturated fats, sure it can be a health issue. But one has to realize that ' s not the way this diet works! You NEED to eat the veggies! You need to incorporate lean, healthy meats like chicken and fish. Americans consume WAY too many carbs, mostly in the form of processed flours, sugars, etc... far more than anyone NEEDS. You can easily get plenty of carbs from healthy, whole foods like broccoli, spinach, and other veggies.
Remember, Atkins isn ' t NO carbs. It ' s LOW ( and healthy ) carbs.

I am the perfect clinical study of this diet: I started at 345 lbs. with numerous health problems. The doctor said " pick any diet. " I chose Atkins, and visited my DR. once per month for blood work. Almost 8 months later, i have now lost 125 lbs. and my blood stats are great and the doctor is elated. Read the book, drink tons of water, excercise daily, and follow this forum. You ' ll be fine!!!!

I will maintain as suggested by the book, although i may lose another 5 - 6 pounds.... either way it does not matter... at age 41, i am back to my college weight, have gone from a 50 inch waist to a 34, and am very comfortable with what i eat and how i excercise.... sorry, no pictures. Stick with it!!!!
