I can ' t tell what I am doing wrong. I have been yoyoing now between 176 ans 179. I haven ' t changed anything and decided today to go back on induction. I have never been smaller then 180 in my adult life and I think my body is rebelling. Is that normal? I still want to lose to 160.

It can take time to convince your body to give up the water weight it has been carrying. That happens to me consistently. You are losing fat but still trying to retain the water and the long - hackneyed weight. So just keep at it and eventually you will see the results. Have patience. Exercise helps a great deal in convincing the body to give up the water weight.

Well. Suzanne - how about tearing up the sidewalk next????
Teuthis is right - body won ' t give up the weight and will retain water until it is forced to. That ' s when the Whoosh Fairy comes in. Another way of looking at this is that this way of eating is working - your body ' s resistance to giving up the weight is proof! [ / icon_wink. gif]

I have been trying to get a couple of people to walk with me in the mornings. Seems like the people that get up and go to work are less motivated than me. I don ' t have to leave the house to go to work. You would thing they ' d welcome getting up and getting their motabolism going. I can ' t go to Curves anymore, the times theyt are unbarred don ' t mesh with my schedule ( homeschool, regular school, three kids in Soccer, only having one vehicle ).

Hey there - I was only joking - I know you are active and always moving around and spending all that time ripping up your flag must have effected something. I just thought Teuthis ' comment was funny given all you ' ve been doing this summer.
Regarding being motivated to walk before work. I used to do that and I loved it - but my schedule has gotten so long - 12 hour days, that I ' m lucky I ' m dressed before I leave for work! [ / icon_eek. gif] So I have managed to walk, by myself, during my lunch hour ( 1. 5 hours - shoe skin gets lots of wear on these city streets, ) and have increased going up and down my stairs at home - for every trip up, I go up and down twice. I am only getting to the gym three times a week ( last week " 0 " times - ugh ) so I have increased my moving and stair stepping.
I know it ' s hard and I don ' t want you to feel like we are poll on you - exercise is such an important part that I wouldn ' t want anyone to think they can lose weight and stay healthy without exercise -
Take care, and let me know how you are doing! [ / icon_wink. gif]

If you haven ' t yet, try the Atkins Dieter ' s Advantage & Accel. Also, check your menu and see if you can eliminate the unnecessesaries for a while - cheese, cream, nuts, non - basic low carb items ( shakes, bars, bread, tortillas, etc. ). Stick to untroublesome - for a while. Also, try increasing your carbs by 5 - but on basics like an extra veggie serving or some berries. The considerable helped me when I was bouncing back and emit for a while.

Hey lets not forget that muscle weighs more than fat, and is better for you. I f you are doing anykind of exercising that is increasing your muscles ( aerobic or anaerobic ) you may oscillate a bit. I hope to lose thirty pounds but i know that I have a very dense muscle structure that keeps the scale and me at odds. I may only lose twenty. But I learned from my time working at a fitness club, that inches matter most!!!! be sure to measure them periodically. Good luck!!!

I have gained 5 inches around my waist. I don ' t know what is going on exclude that maybe I am not meant to be a healthy weight. I just don ' t think my body will allow it.

Those inches around your waist are indications of regaining fat weight. It might help if you posted your menu, including volumes eaten and let us take a look at it. If you are doing something wrong it might just leap out at us.
If you are one of the really metabolic resistent people, you may need to chase some of the ideas in the Atkins book on that subject. It is Chapter 20. Perhaps you should read it and see if any of it applies.

Breakfast:
3 slices of bacon
1 glass of water
Lunch:
tuna salad ( 1 / 2 )
1 can of tuna
3 boiled eggs
2 tbsp Miracle whip
mixed together, I only eat 1 / 2 or less for lunch
Water
snack:
sf jello
Supper:
1 meat portion, steak, chicken, or pork usually
1 1 / 2 cups broccoli
1 1 / 2 cups cauliflower
sometimes I have asparagus
I hate veggies and all the ones I do eat aren ' t allowed. This hasn ' t stopped me before. Also sometimes my snack may include beefstick. If I am really not hungry like ( TOM ) I ' ll have meat of some sort, hotdog, sausage.
For lunch today I will be having chicken with broccoli and cheese, 1 3 ounce portion has 3 carbs.
Sometimes for snack I have a sugar free popsicle for the sweet.
I will check out chapter 20 again to see if any of that applies to me.
Also, I take a multivitamin, potassium, calcium, flaxseed oil capsule after breakfast.
I get up at 7am but don ' t eat my first meal until almost 8am. ( the time in between my husband and daughter leaving and my boys getting up. Peace and quiet ) and I try not to eat after 9pm.

Hey Susanna - I don ' t think you are eating enough carbs - good quality carbs - what veggies DO you like? Even if they aren ' t allowed on the Induction list - at this point you should be eating more veggies - maybe nuts and fruits too. DOn ' t forget, the initial Induction ( strict 20 - 25 gms per day ) is to get you into Ketosis and into a different way of eating. After that, you do need to add in other foods for variety, more carbs, fiber, nutrients etc. Note Teuthis ' menu, who is still on Induction level after 8 months, has added nuts and more veggies in his daily diet. It is important and your body, while getting enough protein and fat, could be reacting like it is starving - the carbs give you energy and they are necessary for the long haul.
Also, what is your water intake? Perhaps increasing water during the day will help break the stall.
I agree with Teuthis - weight around your waist is fat gain. SOmething is wrong and from what I see on your menu, there is no salad, and not enough veggies.
Just my thoughts.

I started eating more veggies and that is when the weight gain started. I was adding green peppers and leeks into my eggs in the morning and having a handfull of nuts for snack and sometimes a plum. That ' s when I started back on induction MOnday. I guess I need to goback to eating strawberries twice a day. I alway have a glass of water somewhere. When I sit down ( every day to fold clothes I usually drink 3@12 ounces per glass, Then there is 2 glasses while doing schoolwork, 2 while cleaning the kitchen, and then I have a glass I keep filling up as I go around the house doing chores so I probably drink 120 ounces a day. Too much? Not enough?

Whao - friend - you got me. I haven ' t a clue as to why this is happening. All I can offer are ideas I heard or read about from other long time low carbers -
One that immediately comes to mind eating your bigger meal at breakfast and your lesser meal at dinner.
Another is to spread your veggies throughout the day, rather than 3 cups at the end of the day.
Another idea is perhaps cutting back on fat eaten. How do you dress the broccoli and cauliflower? Are you eating turkey bacon, rather than pork bacon? Are you using butter, cream and cheese? The fat you ingest might be causing a problem - or at least the elimination of fat you eat can break the log jam.
Just some other thoughts.

I use fat free broth to cook the veggies in and I spray my pans and things with Pam. I am using pork bacon, so I can stop that, I can eat more for breakfast and less for supper, and I think I will start eating stuffed chicken breast for lunch ( stuffed with broccoli and cheese ). What do you think?

Susanna - what can it hurt? As long as you calories out is less than calories in - you will lose weight.
These refinements that we are now discussing are about breaking a log jam.
That is different than continuing what you were doing - continuing with this way of eating and exercizing, you will lose weight eventually.
Try it and let us know if it helps. I would give it a week. Just some thoughts.
