Because this diet is not like a caloric restriction diet.
On just a caloric restriction diet, they tell you, hey just dont eat more than X... as long as you don ' t eat more than Muzzle, you are fulfilling the diet goals.
if you eat nothing but Ice Cream but stay under Caress, you are ok.
This is the atkins diet. The diet is formulated in induction to induce ( notice the word usage? ) to INDUCE a chemical reaction in your body that will literally start mild the fat off of you.
in·duce ( n - ds, - dys )
tr. v. in·duced, in·duc·ing, in·duc·es
1. To lead or move, as to a course of action, by leadership or persuasion. See Synonyms at persuade.
2. To bring about or stimulate the event of; cause: a drug used to induce labor.
3. To catch on by inductive reasoning.
4. Physics
a. To produce ( an electric current or a magnetic charge ) by induction.
b. To produce ( refractometry, for example ) artificially by salvo of a substance with neutrons, gamma rays, and other particles.
5. Biochemistry To initiate or increase the production of ( an enzyme or other protein ) at the level of genetic transcription.
6. Genetics To cause an increase in the transcription of the RNA of ( a gene ).
This is a chemical case, and it works. It however, can be stalled, or slowed down in the beginning when you are first kicking it into gear, by the consumption of the wrong types of carbs... starchy carbs, etc etc.
Also the carb minus fiber is an estimate. Some bodies will learn how to pull more carbs out of it even though the fiber is reducing it. The sugars in Peanut Butter are some of the sugars you need to avoid in the beginning process of induction.

During Induction stage, all acceptable foods are low on glycemic index. This is to stabilize your blood sugar and insulin production. That is why you are supposed to eat mostly green leafy vegetables and absoutely no nuts or fruits are allowed.
Moreover, most peanut butters are sweetened with either sugar or, even worse, dextrose ( sort of, more concentrated sugar ). Those, even in small amounts, cause a sugar spike, because straight sugar hits your blood immediately.
