My question is in regards to the nutritional information on the back of food.
For instance the dill pickles I get say it has less then 1 gram of carbs, but they don ' t show up as a food possibility.
I also found a hotdog that list 0 carbs.
I ' m a bit confused is nutritional information accurate?

Sorry I can be a bit of a strew brain at times.
When the calculated carb count on atkins food list is different from the calculated carb count based on the nutritional information which one should be followed?
For instance a splenda parcel counts as 1 carb but if you look at the nutritional information on drinks that use splenda they have 0 carbs. Just as a facile example. I ' ve noticed differences in some of vegetables.

OH... okay... it ' s really two different things.
On the Splenda, the reason the box says zero carbs per serving is that LEGALLY the manufacturers can say ZERO if it ' s less than one. So, it could be. 99 carbs and they can say 0 carbs. That ' s what ' s going on with the Splenda. Portion / serving size is the key here... they make the serving size small enough to get the carb ( and calorie ) count under 1 gram. There ARE carbs in Splenda packets and granular Splenda. It ' s not in the sweetener, it ' s in the the bulking agent used so you have something to " pour " or measure. This agent is maltodextrin. You ' ll find it on the ingredient list. So yes, count each little yellow packet as 1 carb. Bummer, huh? I sometimes buy the tablets since they don ' t have the maltodextrin... neither does the liquid Splenda if you can find it.
Now... for the veggies. It ' s important to realize that ALL carb counts are approximate. Your hothouse tomato could have more natural sugar than the one I buy from the farmer down the road. There ' s no way to know exactly what ' s in the veggies you buy and eat. Check out a few of the online carb counters and you ' ll see varying counts on the same foods. Just pick on and go with it. I use the acceptable foods list... that has the count for approved veggies. But that list has its shortcomings, too... like zucchini on the list is sauteed. Uh, I eat mine raw so now what?? I go to a favorite online site and get my info there. If you have a package of something, like cole slaw mix, use the info on that... or a can of green beans, use the info on the can.
For other foods it can get pretty complicated... things with sugar alcohols, for instance. To subtract or not to subtract... that IS the question. I simply avoid all foods with SA. LOL Oh wait, I might have one or two Baskin & Robbins sf hard candies a week. For bottled salad dressings, etc, use the label but be very conscious of the serving size. A tsp isn ' t much. Hope this helps,
