Can someone tell me the difference? What should I count, Carbs or Net Carbs?
Thanks!

You count net carbs because we ' re only interested in the carbs that affect your blood sugar. Net carbs is total carbs - dietary fiber - sugar alcohols.

my experiance has been lately to count a carb as a carb and I have learned the hard way with the carb and net carb issue, so many products out there can trick us example 2 net carbs for a atkins bar and thruthfully there are way many more real carbs in the bar many people think oh two net carbs let me eat 3 or 4 of these and it can lead to trouble if I count a carb as a carb it works better for me, net carbs effect everyone diffrently some people do not have a problem and others stall from it.

What you say, Kholobar, is very true for sugar alcohols, but NOT for fiber. Fiber is harmless - it isn ' t digested, it ' s beneficial to our digestive system and we need it.
As for sugar alcohols - they are the " trick " thing. They ARE carbs, only formulated in such a way that they wouldn ' t spike blood sugar. But they DO get digested, eventually. So I am definitely with the " faction " which says to count sugar alcohols as regular carbs. On some people they seem to have no effect, though. So eventually, after many discussions ( if you check the forum like two years back, you are sure to find it ) the middle way was suggested to include half the count of sugar alcohols as carbs.
Me, I don ' t trust them and count my net carbs as total - fiber. And I try to avoid sugar alcohols altogether, as they are known to have caused stalls in many cases.11 октября 2008 г.
