Hello Sona,
Congratulations on your new baby. If you will be breast feeding I think it won ' t be good to start Atkins.
You need to revise the acceptable foods on Induction because ketchup is not allowed and what ' s more important are the veggies, you need 12 - 15 net carbs from them.
Good luck and keep us posted.
Maie.

You could do pre - maintenance or maintenance, but you do not want to be in ketosis while you ' re breastfeeding.
You would want to be eating greater 50 carbs per day to stay out of ketosis.

Hi there. I have to permit if you are breastfeeding you should consult your physician about Atkins. I was told NOT at all to do it while I breastfed. The baby needs all the nutrients it can get.

In this forum ( Induction Phase ) index at the top of the page you will find two " sticky " threads, read Basic Rules of Induction. It will explain everything.
Then, go back and read the other sticky. It will tell you all of the foods you can eat. It ' s called, Acceptable foods ( Induction ).
Read these, please. No one can tell you exactly what YOU should eat. Only you know your daily schedule and likes / dislikes / availability. Having someone else tell you what to eat doesn ' t lead you to making the choices yourself ( personal responsiblity ), understanding why you can eat some foods and not others and it doesn ' t empower you to change your life yourself. Read some of the posts here, though, and you will see what other people eat. Use that for inspiration or ideas, but draw your menu for YOU.

Hi Sona,
I agree with Tril. You are the one who is in control, so scare up whatever suits you.
By the way, I ' m a Muslim too and I didn ' t have any trouble with the food. I just ignored pork and ham and skipped the alcohol rung. There is no problem at all skipping rungs, and even Dr. Atkins said that you may skip a rung if it ' s a trigger.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Yes, we can skip rungs... he also suggested that if you DO skip one, to still do that week, just don ' t add that rung ' s item. So you would do the rung below the one you want to skip for two weeks.
Hope that makes sense. LOL

Hi Sona,
I was glad reading your post,
I had a baby 2 months ago by c / s
I ' m not breastfeeding
I need to lose 3 - 4 stones
I can ' t eat pork or drink alcohol; I ' m muslim
and finally, I was disperate for some encouragement. I tried the cabbage soup diet for one week, and it didn ' t work, lost only 3lbs!! then switched to weightwatchers and lost NOTHING. after that I felt so frustrated, I can ' t wear any of my cloths, shoes, rings.... feel so bad...
I ' m 5. 5 ", 182 lbs and my goal weight is 128.. a long way to go.
what about you?
so, today was your first day? how was it?
is it true that you become irritable and tired?
I recognize with Tril and mneemnee, no one can tell you what to eat, the guidelines are fairly clear and elementary, you just need to supplant them.
I will start tomorrow, and yes, I need alot of encouragement coz I ' m afraid this diet won ' t work too [ / icon_cry. gif]
good luck

hey!
thanks for ur replies!
I made 1st day menu but think i may have messed up already!!
I have 2 eggs this morning with a bit of cheese, then i had 3 analyze kebabs made of lamb mince.. i know they entail onions so ive counted the carbs for them ( may have been made with a lil potato in them ) and the cheese from this morning. And for my dindins i had a stir fry with a little bit of chicken... i actually sat and picked out the grated carrots!! lolz that wasnt fun.
Noor, love i know how u feel! I have tried WW since three weeks after my lil one was born and i went up n down 3 lbs and ended up putting on 1 extra lb!
Ive decided to stick this out till ive lost my preg weight and then some! plus my hubby has promised to buy me a nice expensive outfit after every 1. 5 stone! insentive or what!!
for 3 weeks now ive also been walking for an hour or more atleast 4 times a week, 2 times with my hubby n 2 - 3 times with my Mother in law. Plan to jump on my latteral thigh trainer as soon as my ankle is better ( hurts from the walking! ) I hope i can stick to this plan.
I think i might have a sent menu for week 1, what u recon:
B - 2 eggs n cheese...... OR eggs and mushrooms
L - chicken or kebab with lettuce......
D - chicken, cauliflower, mushrooms....... OR lamb chops with veg
are we allowed string cheese? i had one today!
ok im gona take a break! lol

what a supportive hubby! my hubby keeps saying that I need to lose weight but whenever I tell him I ' m dieting he makes fun of me, he thinks that all I need to do is to reduce my calorie intake and do some exercise!! he doesn ' t get it that if I do so, I need 5 years to reach my target weight..
I tried to walk regularly but I live in LONDON, and it ' s mostly raining these days, though not cold. but inconvenient. I also have a lateral thigh trainer, bought before I got pregnant and after few days I found out that I ' m pregnent so I did not use it since then [ / icon_rolleyes. gif]
but I will, since everyone says that it really makes a difference in toning the thighs ( where I have a big problem! )
I liked your menu, as for me, I ' m gonna have a similar menu:
Breakfast: 2 eggs fried with butter. and cheese
Lunch: chicken with mushrooms made in the oven.
dinner: salad; lettuce, tomato, feta cheese black olives and olive oil
and I ' ll start making few changes everyday.
92kg is 203lb. you can use the convertor online.
me too, I wasn ' t slim before pregnancy, and I ' m thinking now, since I started the atkins, I won ' t stop untill I become really slim. I hope I will succeed..
good luck and I ' ll keep you informed

Hi Sona and Noor,
You remind me of my story. I wasn ' t slim before my pregnancy either. I have gained a lot in the 2nd one. But I began Atkins about 7 months ago and believe it or not lost all the baby weight. I still need 7 kg ( 15 lbs ) to my goal weight. I ' m still over weight ( I was obese when I started ).
Good luck to both of you and keep us posted. [ / icon_smile. gif]

Noor - I live in blackburn and hun i hear ya about the crappy weather! but im still out there walking in the rain! my hubby gets monday and tuesday off from work and what we do is walk for an hour then have a nice snack! I always opted for somic in my points for WW but now that im doing atkins in gona eat some nice chicken or kebab from the halal food joints! my fave is the baby grilled chicken at kebabish.. ( probs have to throw in some carbs for the sauce its been marinated in ).
re hubby laughing - mine did it every time i changed my diet and ive gone through a few in the 2. 5 years we ' v been married but this time he ' s been very supportive as he knows i piled the weight on having his baby! lolz i always like to throw in the " major surgery " whenever he even thinks about makin fun of me!

breki - 2 eggs, cheese, butter.
lunch - 2 kebabs
tea - roast chicken

that ' s great mneemnee, but you know what; I thought it will take mr maximum 4 months, but you are talking about 7 months and sona is talking about November [ / icon_cry. gif]
I have put a plan for buying new cloths and having a brand new look by the end of this summer but it seems I have to wait till the next one [ / icon_cry. gif] [ / icon_cry. gif] [ / icon_cry. gif]
but that ' s fine as long as I will reach my goal.. we all will, hopefully..
let ' s keep encouraging eachother.

Sona,
I haven ' t noticed any veggies in your menu. Remember you need 12 - 15 net carbs from them.
Noor,
Not all bodies are the same. Some have high resistance, other not. So don ' t compare, just stick to the diet and you ' ll be fine.
