Hi all....
Kind of a poll question for those in progress of losing weight: How many pounds did you have to lose before people said, " you look good / like you are losing weight "...... I have lost about 10 - 15 % of my body wt ( 23# ) and no one has said a word. Husband and kids are saying kind and all heart things like, " of course, yes.. yes... I can see.... " ( liars!.. lol )
I have noticed this even with people I only see weekly... and I KNOW it isn ' t becuase people have too refined manners to comment on what other people look like, because THAT sure isn ' t true! LOL
I am interesting in other people ' s experiences.
Thanks

I believe alot of it depends on your body composition.. Esp if you cherish to have excess weight in your mid section and then lose alot of weight from that area people nurture to notice the frontage and smaller waistline at first glance.
However if you are like me and you boost to bear your weight evenly or most of your excess weight in your lower body like hips, and thighs those loses seem to take alot more to notice.
In my wieghtloss experience I would say after losing minimun of 30lbs did people say wow you have lost alot of wieght..

I also want to know when you start noticing that you ' ve lost weight. I ' ve lost 19 1 / 2 ( I had to throw in that 1 / 2 [ / icon_lol. gif] ) and really don ' t feel that much different. I mean, that ' s almost 20 lbs gone, and I still feel the same. Hmmmm [ / icon_eek. gif]

The more weight you have to loose, the more weight that has to come off for people to notice. What is nice about that is that the more weight you have to loose, the faster it comes off. ex. you ' ll notice some1 loose from 145 - 130 ALOT more than 245 - 230. However it prob take 2x - 3x ( ore eve more ) as long to loose that 15lbs from 145 - 130 than 245 - 230.

I think sometimes people are afraid to say anything in case they are wrong so they wait until there is no doubt. My boss recently lost over 30 lbs ( low carb, of course ) and people would wait until she was out of earshot and ask me if she has lost weight. It ' s almost like they are embarrassed to comment that she had weight to lose in the first place.

good question. I have lost 26 pounds and havent heard a peep, except from my husband. Good boy!
i agree with Dawn that people dont want to say anything. I think when I lose about 40 - 50 people will really notice and comment.
I keep trying to focus on how I feel, which is much better than before.

I agree with two comments. First, people may not want to say anything for fear that they are out of line. My husband had a male co - worker ask him privately if he lost weight explaining that he didn ' t want to ask him in front of anyone because he was afraid that he would sound gay if he commented on a another man ' s body! In other words, people have some really strange reasons for not commenting on another ' s appearance. Secondly, it really does depend on where you carry your weight. If you have lost inches all over it may be hard to tell how much you ' ve lost. Also, if you are wearing the same clothes that you wore prior to your weight loss, they may be hiding your new body. Maybe if you wore some of your " skinny " clothes or a new outfit you would get some comments on your weight loss. Congratulations on your loss!
