hi!
Have a daft question... are double cream and heavy cream the same thing? I made that shepards pie today and used double cream.. the tub was 250g and every 100g had 2. 5g of carbs.. i only actually used a hasty bit.. no more that 2 tablespoons... so is that ok? I also had some in a cup of tea ( couple of drops ) instead of milk.... i have not had tea all week..... Im from england... tea is a big deal.
please reply quickly or im guna chuck it away!
( please let it be allowed pretty plz... )

I ' m from Ireland, we drink more tea per capita than any other country in the world and I can empathise with you on the lack of tea situation! It ' s amazing how quickly you get used to it though. Yep, I ' m pretty sure double cream is fine. I know I use it. [ / icon_biggrin. gif] Someone correct me if I ' m wrong.

I think that as long as you still drink your daily measure of pure water you can drink as much tea as you like. The problem with caffeine is that for some people their body mistakes it for sugar, causing cravings. I read in the faq section also that as caffeine is a diuretic, it can dilute the weight loss effect that drinking water can have. For tonight I wouldn ' t worry about the caffeine, just get some decaff as soon as possible.
Same with the canderel, it ' s made from aspartame which can cause stalls for some people but the main issue is that it has known carcinogenic or cancer causing properties. Splenda is much safer.
As for the whipping / double cream thing I always took it that what they call whipping cream in the US is our single or standard cream and that heavy is double cream. Hopefully if I ' m wrong, as before, someone will correct me. [ / icon_biggrin. gif]

Here ' s a link to the IDFA ( international dairy foods association )... it tells what the different forms of liquid milk can take, esp interesting is the creams:
http: / / www. idfa. org / facts / milk / define. cfm
Maybe you can figure out what category your " double cream " would fit into.
As for tea... I finally learned to drink mine " black ". No cream, no sweetener. I do NOT limit my tea consumption... there ' s a limit to how much I ' ll give up in my quest to lose weight. TEA is not negotiable. [ / icon_wink. gif]

try for decaf tea.... as you are in england, go for nettle, dandelion or fennel teas as these work wonders in your body and remove bloat. plus it fits the bill for hot tea on cold days...
you can have heavy cream ( 2. 6g per 100 mls ) in your tea. canderel and splenda are also fine but affect people differently. monitor your ketostix and see how you respond.

I ' m in Ireland but its fairly similar. There ' s articles on ketostix in the faq section of this site and Atkins mentions them in the book. I got mine in Boots chemist. Just go to the desk where they sell painkillers and medical things. You have to ask for them though, they aren ' t stocked on the shelves. Most pharmacies should have them.

I picked up 10 ketostix boxes when I was in the UK last week. Got them mainly at Boots ( chemist section ) but also picked up a few at the local chemists, although you may need the shop to order some for you ( they arrive within one day! ). Price point was between 4. 85 - 5. 15 ( sterling ), which is comparable to the States.
They are, without question, the easiest and most reliable indicator of your body burning fat. They are strips that you dip in your pee ( you can do it while you are peeing if you have a steady hand! ). There is a litmus like tip and it turn purple if there are ketones in your urine. This is medical proof that you are burning fat.
Burn, baby, burn!
