Good morning Everyone [ / icon_biggrin. gif]
I was just wondering about reading labels, for instance I have just made my daughter some scotch pancakes and they say carbs 13. 8g of which sugars are 5. 6g, I am not going to eat them ( although my mouth is watering LOL ) but do you count the whole number or the sugars or what??? we do not have the dietry fibre etc on many packets in England so I wasn ' t sure what to count??
Please help
Kelly

From what I understand, labels in Europe already subtract the fiber. Inasmuch as carb count is the net carbs. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.

You do not have to trouble abou the sugars, only the carbs. [ / icon_smile. gif] If you have sugar alcohols listed on your NI then you can subtract that from the carb count as well for " NET " carbs.
Good Luck!!!!

Hi, I asked this very question a month or so ago.
In Europe the carbs listed do not contain fibre carbs, so you need to count the entire number as impact carbs.
Cheers,

You should be careful with this particular bit. Sugar alcohols are digestible carbs, they are just digested a bit slower. They are generally a false friend - many people suffer stalls from them, and besides, they make it harder to ditch bad habits...
So although they can theoretically be subtracted from the net carb count ( at least, that ' s what candy manufacturers keep telling us ) it ' s better to count at least half of them as impact carbs.
