Hello!
Just joined. I need some expert advise on what I may or may not be doing right on the Atkins. I have lost a stone in a month. I am sticking to the 20 carbs a day thing - do I have to check anything else other than carbs on food packaging? Its just I seem to have come to a halt now I cant shift anymore weight I still have another 2 stone to go - help me please!
Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong or what I can do to help myself? I do have the ketone sticks to wee on so I know im in ketosis and I drink lots of water.

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your weight loss so far! I suppose any advice would depend on whether or not you are still on induction, or whether you ' ve moved to OWL. If you ' re still losing weight, I think counting the carbs alone is play hardball. How was your first month anyway? Did you find it easy or difficult?

Thanks for replying...
Well I actually loved my first month... I was on lighterlife ( water shakes only ) for 2 weeks so I really appreciated normal food! I love this diet I think I just really need some variation as I encourage to eat the same thing all the time.
I have remained on 20 carbs a day - is this okay to do this, to stay on the induction phase all the time? Not really sure to be honest!
Will appreciate any help or advise at all.
How have you don on it?

Staying on induction is healthy for up to six months. I have a good bit of weight to lose so I ' m planning to stay on induction until I ' ve lost 50 per cent of my target.
I ' m finding it ok, although I ' m stalling at the moment which is a bit disheartening. I ' m under a lot of stress though, and stress does strange things so hopefully its interim! Have you read the book?
It ' s really helpful for little tips and motivation, and you can pick up copies relatively cheaply on site ' s like ebay. I loved the book. Most diet plans I couldn ' t stick to. Having somebody say its ok you didn ' t stick it, there ' s a reason why you couldn ' t, and there is a way around it was hugely helpful for me personally. It was the first time in ages I hadn ' t felt guilt about eating.
Sorry for the length of the post, I ' ma complete chatterbox! [ / icon_eek. gif]

you ' re all right. give your body a chance to adjust to the weight loss. one stone in a month is fantastic. give yourself 2 months ( at least ) to lose the next stone. patience, my dear. [ / icon_cool. gif]

1 Stone = 14 pounds.
And as for gaudy books, I got a used hardcopy ( in great savor ) on amazon for. 01 cent. All I really had to pament was shipping costs.
In reality the first 25 copies or so listed on amazon are under 2 dollars.

Do you tend to eat the same foods each day? If you do, try switching it up. Sometimes when you get in a pattern you tend to stall.

Yes I do tend to eat similar things every day but im very fussy really - I also think im not eating enough fat. Here is an example of what I would eat in 1 day see what you think -
* 4 rashers of normal / smoked bacon and 2 boiled eggs
* 1 cup of caffinated coffee with pouring milk and 3 tablet sweetners
* Tuna with cheese lettace 4 cherry tomatoes and 2 spoons of full fat mayo
* Suger free jelly with full fat squirty cream
* Chicken fillets with broccoli and cauliflower
* 2 litres of water throughout the day
* 2 cans of diet coke
* If I have any spare carbs I will eat for example 3 chocolate cadbury mini eggs ( 2 carbs each )
What do you think - I do eat this every day sometimes I change the meats or have some meat in between if I get peckish ( obviously checking carb contents ). It deffo worked I lost a stone but now its stopped its like im gaining a pound then losing it all the time, been like this for about 8 days now - aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh! [ / icon_sad. gif]

This sounds a great selection of Atkins food to me. For a bit of variation, look up crustless quiche on this site, it is great.

the only thing I saw a little off was the chocolate. Try switching it up and stay away from the chocolate ( at least right now ). [ / icon_smile. gif]

The caffeine is sometimes a problem. It can make your body respond with insulin as though you ate sugar. Not good to eat caffeine on induction, anyhow. Might need to experiment with that.
the squirty cream.. does it have any hidden sugar?
Does the diet coke have any aspartame in it? Aspartame can cause people to not be able to lose weight.
Using spare carbs up... you will be better off to allow yourself to be lower in carbs for that day... will speed weight loss probably.
If you are hungry, and have spare carbs... go for more salad veggies. Preferably dark green.
That ' s all I can think of.
